Why a Seat Ibiza Replacement Key Won't Work

Remove the key fob battery compartment cover (A). By using a thumb nail or flat-head screwdriver, prise upwards to open the cover and replace the CR2025 battery.

Dead Coin Battery

If your key fob has stopped working and you're able to reprogram it with an updated code, then the most likely cause is a dead battery in the coin. By replacing it, you can bring it back to life and running again. You can do it yourself in under 10 minutes.

To change the battery in your seat ibiza replacement key, flip it open from the non metal ringed side first. You can then open the clip-on lid using your nail. The old battery is pulled through the hole in the middle. Be aware that changing the battery incorrectly or with an unsuitable battery can damage the remote key. This is the part of your car that receives the signals from the keyfob and sends the signals to the key ignition system. If you have an extra key fob you can test it. It should trigger the ignition system light turn on and the central locking switch activate. If this doesn't happen then the receiver module is faulty. This is a costly fix however it can be repaired by an expert at your local garage.

Radio Interference

The receiver module inside your key could be causing interference. Seat parts can offer an alternative key with a new receiver.

To replace the battery, simply flip off the key piece and using your thumb nail or a screwdriver that has a flat head, gently pry upwards the key fob battery compartment cover. Remove the old CR2025 battery and replace it with a new battery, ensuring that the polarity is right. You can also use a regular key that has transponder chips that were before on a worn or damaged key. This can be cut and coded to your car if needed.

Faulty Receiver Module

The receiver module is the component on the key fob, which transmits radio signals to the car. The module may be damaged when the fob stops functioning. This can be identified with an OBDII scan tool or by contact with the dealer.

Other devices that utilize the same frequency may interfere with the remote keyless entry system. This could include mobile phones, electrical devices, and even some household appliances.

If the key fob is exposed to clean tap water, it could be possible to clean the chip using paper towels and isopropyl alcohol. If the fob is submerged in soapy or salt water, or is sat on a wet floor for prolonged periods, this is likely to cause damage and is likely to require replacement.

To change the battery in your key fob you will need your thumb nail or small flat-head screwdriver to open the cover of the button cell battery compartment (B). Remove the old battery. Replace it with a brand new CR2025, making sure that the "+" direction is facing upwards.
